STARK, John David: November 12, 1912 - February 22, 2007 {also on Jensen grave stone page}

John David Stark
   John David Stark, resident of Grande Prairie (formerly of Bezanson) passed away at the Grande Prairie Care Centre on Thursday, February 22, 2007 at the age of 94. Dad, the eldest in a family of eight, was born in the small mining town of Crynant, Wales on November 12, 1912. He came with his family to Grande Prairie in 1926, settling on a farm in the Glen Leslie district. Dad was always on the go and spent a lot of his spare time in the community - playing in a small community band at the Bezanson hall, helping build a log house at the museum or training young loggers how to use the cross cut for the logging competition - he was always an enthusiastic and hard working volunteer. Dad had a great love for the outdoors and music, both of which he passed on to his family. Logging was more than a job - it was his passion. He taught himself to play the fiddle and Mom said she wondered what people would think if they could see "Johnny" packing the old coal oil lantern out to do the chores, singing at the top of his voice. Left with our own special and unique memories of Dad are his sons Duane of Grande Prairie, Roy (Marie) of Grande Prairie, Warren (Debby) of Lethbridge, daughter Denise (Rick) of Grande Prairie; five grandchildren Michelle (Andriy) Yewchuk, Troy (Carrie) Stark, Nicole Stark, Kelly (Pat) Hryciuk and Stacey (Bryan) Hryciuk; two great grandchildren Karalee and Colby Yewchuk; sister Anne (Elmer) Bulford and brother Doug (Evelyn) Stark. Dad was predeceased by our mother, Geraldine Stark, granddaughter Rebecca Stark, his parents John and Mary, brothers Jim and Tom and sisters Elizabeth Chandler, Mary Summach and Isabelle Heasler. Friends and family gathered to share our memories of Dad on Sunday, February 25, 2007, followed by interment at the Glen Leslie cemetery.
   Memorial donations to the Grande Prairie food bank or a charity of your choice would be appreciated by the family.
