Dorothea Bulford
![]() Dorothea was born on October 3, 1947, to Harriet and Gordon Fitzsimmons. She was the youngest of three girls. As a child she attended and finished school in Wembley. Afterwards she went to work at the CIBC in Grande Prairie AB. While walking home from work with a friend, Dorothea was introduced to Jim Bulford through the kindness of a ride home and from that chance meeting a romance was born. While dating, Dorothea decided to see what it was like to live in the big city and moved in with her oldest sister and husband in Edmonton. Jim, upon realizing that he dearly missed her, drove to Edmonton, proposed and the deal was sealed. They lived in Grande Prairie for almost four years when Jim decided to give farming a try - against Dorothea’s wishes. She gave him three years and said if I don’t like it, we will move back to Grande Prairie. Their first daughter, Teresa was born a year after they started farming. When the 3-year mark hit, Dorothea made a list of the pros and cons and decided that this was definitely the way of life for her. Two years after that their second daughter, Heather was born. Dorothea had a strong faith in God and became involved in the Bezanson Community Church. She was admired for her kindness and generosity. Dorothea and Jim were avid square dancers with the Bezanson Wheelers. For a time, Dorothea wrote a column in the Daily Herald Tribune in which she reported on the community events for Bezanson. She also volunteered on the board for the Community Crime Watch Association. In the later years, Dorothea found joy in joining Jim on his long-haul trucking adventures. They also enjoyed travelling down to Osoyoos various times as well as once across Canada with her older sister and brother in-law. And then the grandchildren came. Mikayla, Teron, Carter and Hunter were her whole world. She was then busy attending all the hockey, curling, motocross, football, volleyball, piano and violin recitals her schedule could handle. Dorothea is survived by her loving husband, Jim, her children Teresa (Aaron) Anderson, Heather (Clayton) Furgeson, grandchildren Mikayla Anderson (Shawn), Teron Anderson (Sierra), Carter Furgeson and Hunter Furgeson and her sister Elenor Wood. She is also survived by her in-laws, who she loved like her own family. As well as many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends; who were so dear to her heart. Dorothea was predeceased by her father and mother, Gordon and Harriet Fitzsimmons, sister Gertrude Thomson, brother-in-law, Jim Wood, mother and father-in-law, Elmer and Ann Bulford, nephew Andrew, nephew Norman, great-nephew Nylan, and infant nephew Stephen. We want to extend our heartfelt thank you to all the paramedics, ER, palliative care, first and second floor nurses of the Grande Prairie Regional Hospital. She was Fiercely loved by her Family and her impact will live on through her generosity for generations to come. A service for Dorothea will be held on Thursday, March 27th at 2pm at the Bezanson Community Church (Grande Prairie County No. 1, AB T0H 0G0). Luncheon to follow at the church. In lieu of flowers, the family would ask you to please donate in Dorothea’s name to the Northwestern Alberta Foundation. Clipped from Oliver's Funeral Home & Crematorium |

Bulford, Kathleen Patricia: March 16, 1949 – December 15, 2024 {Also on McGreevy grave stone page}
Kathleen Bulford![]() Kathleen Patricia was born March 16, 1949, in Northern Ireland to Catherine and Francis McGreevy, where she was the middle child of nine. She lost her dad when she was just a young girl, and it was a huge loss because she adored him and his playful spirit, which she matched. After she finished school, she attended business college and worked in an office in Belfast, a job she enjoyed. In 1969, Kathleen was encouraged by her mother to move to Canada, to Maple Ridge, BC where her older sister Lily and family and her brother Hugh had emigrated to. She told her younger siblings she would be back soon, but she would not return to Ireland until many years later. The biggest reason for that delay was meeting the love of her life, Grant, in the fall of 1971. Grant had just been transferred there for his first RCMP posting. They fell completely in love after their first date, getting married in 1972 and then starting their bustling family of five. The arrival of Monica would start their family in 1972, followed by Tammy in 1974. Being married to a police officer has its challenges, but the biggest was leaving family and friends and moving to start over in a new town. In August 1977 Grant and Kathleen made their first move to Carlyle, Saskatchewan where they welcomed Sean in December of that year. While in Carlyle they added Ryan in 1979 and rounded off their crew with Daniel in 1982. So many life-long friends were made in Carlyle that became more like family, which was so important to her, as she was so far away from hers. She made many special memories there with her young family. Seven years later, the trek was made north to Battleford, Saskatchewan, where she started all over again, finding many new friends. If you knew Kathleen, that was easy for her to do. She was so easy to love. Two years later, the family was on their way to settle in Bezanson for years to come, and back with family. She was a vital member of her community, involved with the local CWL, TOPS, Bezanson Rec Society, Bezanson Senior Centre, and wherever else she was needed. She has been called by some a matriarch in the community, and that is so true, she loved and was loved by all. She was known for her strong Catholic faith, her sweet Irish singing voice, her quick wit, her smiling eyes, and most of all her beautiful and giving heart. She was a brilliant ray of love to all who knew her. She was truly one in a million. Her greatest and most precious gifts were her family- Grant, the love of her life, travel companion, ranch hand and soulmate, her children who she loved unconditionally, and her shining stars, her grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Kathleen was predeceased by her father Francis McGreevy, her mother Catherine McGreevy, her sisters, Lily McFadden, Rose Brennan, and Sally McKay, brothers Joe and Hugh McGreevy, infant brothers Seamus and Francis, mother-in-law Annie Bulford, father-in-law Harvey Bulford, and Granny Bulford. She is survived by her adoring and loving husband Grant, her children and grandchildren who were her entire world. She will be missed dearly by her daughters Monica (Wade), Tammy, sons Sean (Shelanne), Ryan (Jenny) and Daniel (Pyper), her grandchildren Daylon, Ashley (Kyle, and their children Hudson and Jillian), Emma Kate, Abby, Sean, Logan, Dani Lynn, Lily, Rheed, Charlie, Ella, Griffin, Hayes and Sutton. She is also survived by her three brothers, Mickey, Francie (Wanda), and Len (Noleen) McGreevy, her in-laws, who she loved like her own family, and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends who held a special place in her heart, as she certainly did in theirs. We want to extend our heartfelt thanks to all the friends and the emergency personnel that tried so hard to keep her with us. Service for Kathleen will be held on Saturday, December 28th, 2024, at 1:00 pm, at St. Joseph Catholic Church 10404 102 St. Grande Prairie. Luncheon to follow at the Bezanson Memorial Hall. In lieu of flowers, the family would ask you to please make a donation in Kathleen’s name, to a charity of your choice.
