Hazel Catharine Weegar, 86, of Bezanson
Hazel Catharine Weegar, resident of Bezanson, Alberta, passed away on Friday,
October 4, 1996 at her home at the age of 86 years.Hazel was born on August 9, 1910 in Oscole, Iowa, USA, the oldest daughter of Rex and Grace Patterson. Some of the Pattersons came up in 1913 and filed on land in the Glen Leslie district. In 1914 and 1915 they came up to Unity, Saskatchewan, went back to U.S. to get their families and came to Glen Leslie in the spring of 1916. Hazel came on the second train up to Grande Prairie. She lived in Glen Leslie until 1929 when she married Rupert Lindsay Weegar from Calgary. They spent 49 years together. They farmed in DeBolt and Bezanson while remaining active in the community, school and church. Hazel is survived by three sons and one daughter: Earl (Allie) of Bezanson; Harvey (Pat) of Clairmont; Delmer (Betty) of Bezanson; Lorice (Desmond) Stark of Grande Prairie; 17 grand-children, 27 great-grandchildren and nine great-great-grandchildren; two brothers: Mifred (Edith) Patterson of Grande Prairie; Ken Patterson of Winfield, B.C.; and sister Wauneita Ogden of Grande Prairie. Hazel was predeceased by her husband Rupert in 1978, father Rex in 1974, mother Grace in 1969 and brother Vernon in 1958. Funeral service for Hazel Weegar will be held on Tuesday, October 8, 1996 at 2 p.m. from Bezanson Community Church, with Rev. Mike McWinnie officiating. Interment to follow in Glen Leslie Cemetery. Memorial donations may be made to the Rainbow Society. | Lindsay Rupert Weegar Lindsay "Rupert" Weegar passed away Dec. 20 in Grande Prairie at the age of 78. He was born in Dundas County, Ont. and came to Balzac with his parents in 1902 and moved to the Peace Country in 1926. Mr. Weegar was instrumental in organizing the start of the first Church at Bezanson. He served as a judge for a number of years for the Teepee Creek and Bezanson Stampedes. He is survived by his wife, Hazel; sons Earl (Allie) of Bezanson, Delmer (Betty) of Bezanson, Harvey (Pat) of Bezanson; daughter Lorice (Des) Stark of Bezanson; 12 grand children, eight great-grandchildren and brother Maurice (Belle) of Calgary. He was predeceased by brothers Earl and Percy and sister Pearl. Funeral service for the late Lindsay "Rupert" Weegar was held Saturday Dec. 23 at 2 30 p m. in the Bezanson Community Church with Pastor Ron Neufeld officiating. Interment followed in the Glen Leslie Cemetery. If desired, donations may be made to the charity of your choice. A lunch was held at the residence of Mrs. Weegar following interment service. Our dear Mother went quietly to her reward after a long and abundant life of
faithfulness, service, generosity, hospitality, tenderness and a bottomless
heart of compassion. Matt. 5:7 “Blessed are the merciful for they shall be shown
mercy.”Allie was born in Grande Prairie and lived her entire life in Bezanson until her move to Heritage Lodge in 2011. She was a busy and productive farm woman who loved nothing better than long hours spent in the sunshine tending a beautiful yard and bountiful garden. She was devoted to family and friends and gave countless hours to community service through the Legion Ladies Auxiliary, Home and School Association and CWL. Her door was always open and her table was often surrounded by loved ones who were nourished both by her hearty meals and her warmth and affection. Allie’s memory will be cherished by her children David, Val (Terry) and Annette (Ron) and beloved Grandchildren Sandy (Lynn), Cathy (Laurie), Parri, James, Lisa (Wyatt), Michael (Michelle) and Darrin. She took immense delight in being the matriarch of 5 generations, having 11 Great-grandchildren and 10 Great-great-grandchildren. She was pre-deceased by her husband Bud Patterson in 1958, her husband Earl Weegar in 2001, her son Keith Patterson in 2015, daughter-In-law Rhea Patterson in 2012, as well as her parents, Tom & Nellie LaValley, and dear siblings Roger, Vernon, Lorna Jean and Irene. We are very grateful for the comfort and assistance given by Theresa, Mavis and Janet, as well as all the family, friends and neighbours whose support allowed Allie to remain on the farm, and to the caregivers at Heritage Lodge, Grande Prairie Care Centre and Points West Living. Earl Lindsay Weegar, 70, of Bezanson Earl Lindsay Weegar passed away surrounded
by his family at the Q.E. II Hospital, on August 18, 2001 at the age of 70.
He was born to Rupert and Hazel Weegar in the DeBolt district and was a longtime resident of the Rex Patterson homestead in Bezanson. Earl's huge heart made him a friend to all he met and the devotion of so many helped to lighten the burdens of his later years. Earl is survived by his wife Allie, whom he cherished. He loved and was loved dearly by Dave and Rhea Patterson, Keith Patterson, Val and Terry Williamson and Annette and Ron Mort. He was a loving and generous Grandpa to Sandy Mayhew and children, Terri, Greg, Joe, Trevor, Ashley and Brittany, Cathy Patterson and James Patterson, Lisa Wallace and son Dillon, Parri and Greg Ulrich and children Heather and Tanner, Michael Williamson and little Darrin Mort. Earl is also survived by his dear siblings, Harvey and Pat Weegar, Lorice and Des Stark, Delmar and Betty Weegar and all of their families. He was predeceased by his parents Rup and Hazel and brothers-in-law Roger and Vernon LaValley. Earl's great affection for all people, a good visit and a 12-point crib will be fondly remembered and sadly missed. In memory of Earl Weegar, please send flowers to someone you love. 9, 2013 at the age of 77 years. Delmer was born in DeBolt, Alberta on December
24, 1936. He will be sadly missed by his son Gerry (Rachel) Weegar; five grandchildren: Bradley, Johnathan, Haylee, Krisania, and Ethan; sister Lorrice Stark; and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his wife Betty Weegar, two children Barry and Amanda; his parents Hazel and Rupert Weegar; brothers Harvey Weegar and Earl Weegar. the age of 55 years. Betty will be sadly missed be her husband Delmer; son Gerry; daughter- in-law Rachel; grandchildren Bradley, Johnathan, Haylee, Krisania, and Ethan; sister Pearl (Albert) Klimack; brother Larry Lindgren; niece Jennie (Shane) Adair and their children Damon and Tia; as well as many nieces, nephews extended family and friends. She was predeceased by her children Barry and Amanda Weegar; her parents Ken and Myrtle Lindgren; sister Bev Stark; sister Marcy Leduc; sister-in-law Terry Lindgren; mother and father-in-law Hazel and Rupert Weegar; and brother-in-law Earl Weegar. Weegar was a longtime resident of Clairmont, Alberta who passed away in Grande
Prairie on Monday, July 23, 2012 at the age of 80 years old. Harvey was born
January 10, 1932 in Grande Prairie, Alberta. He was raised in Debolt, and later
moved to Bezanson. He farmed during the summer and logged in the winter. He married the love of his life Patricia in 1976 and made a living farming and raising horses, and cattle. In 1979, Harvey began working with Wales Contracting as an equipment operator, and then retired in 2000 as a production foreman. Harvey will be sadly missed and is survived by his wife Pat, his sister Lorice, and his brother Delmer, daughters Gail (Jim), Marion (Mel), Debbie, Roxanne (Donnie), and son Trevor (Kim). He will also be missed by numerous nieces and nephews, eight grandchildren and sixteen great- grandchildren. Harvey was predeceased by his father Rupert, mother Hazel and older brother Earl. Patricia “Pat” Eileen Weegar, resident of Clairmont, AB, formerly of
Bezanson, AB, passed away on Sunday, August 1, 2021, at the QEII
Hospital in Grande Prairie, AB, at the age of 85 years. Pat was born on May 17, 1936, in Carruthers, SK. In 1947, Pat’s family moved from Saskatchewan to Grande Prairie, where Pat grew up, went to school and worked. In 1976, Pat married Harvey Weegar. They lived and worked on the farm until 1987 when they moved to Clairmont. In 2002, they retired and enjoyed spending more time with family and friends. She loved her family, horses, camping, watching the Blue Jays and spending time in her garden. Pat also enjoyed doing puzzles, playing bingo, piano, and playing cards. Pat will be sadly missed by her children: Gail (Jim), Marion (Melvin), Debbie, Roxanne (Don), and Trevor (Kim); ten grandchildren; twenty great-grandchildren; as well as one great-great-grandchild. A Memorial Service will be held on Sunday, August 8, 2021, at 2:00pm, at Oliver’s Funeral Home in Grande Prairie (10005 107 Ave).
